In July, 2012, The Lancet published a Series on gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM) and HIV, which was released at the XIX International AIDS Conference in 2012. The Series of comprehensive reviews on epidemiology, prevention, clinical care, health disparities in racial and ethnic minority MSM, community responses, and politics, reported on the widespread
severity of MSM HIV epidemics worldwide, and on the limited and insuffi cient responses for this expanding component of the pandemic. The final paper was a call to action, which laid out a research agenda and an ambitious plan for improved programmatic responses for HIV services for MSM.
