Background
Eurasian Coalition on Male Health is an international non-governmental association, located in Tallinn, Estonia. We are a membership-based association, open for non-profits and individuals, acting in the field of sexual health, including HIV issues, for men who have sex with men and trans people, in the region of Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia (CEECA)
Mission
We aim to create favorable conditions to ensure that men who have sexual relations with other men and transgender people have access to services in the field of sexual and reproductive health, mainly to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support, based on respect for their human rights
Description of Services required and Timelines
In the region of CEECAC, is lack of systematic and comparable data about trans* people. Last year ECOM implemented the web-based study on internal homophobia and its links to utilizing HIV services.
ECOM is seeking regional level expert assistance to design and conduct the web-based survey among trans people on internal transphobia in the context of HIV.
The consultant will (a) summarize existing literature from the CEECA region; (b) develop a protocol and draft tools, obtain its approval from RAGSI (contacts will be provided by ECOM); (c) study the possibility of using web-dating sites (issues like: distributing questionnaires, system of bonuses for users, available audience, presence of contacts with administrators, etc.) and will suggest the 2 best choices; (d) after discussions with the web-sites administrators, will program the questionnaire; (e) conduct an analysis of the results obtained and write a report.
The consultant would be requested to work in close collaboration with ECOM staff, specifically the Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator and Communications Officer to perform the services
Deliverables
- Survey protocol and tool approved by RAGSI
- Database of completed survey
- Report with literature overview and survey results
Budget and Contract
Budget allocation will cover the cost for developing and implementing web-survey within the period from 15 May until 1 Nov 2018 (15 working days’ maximum)
Consultant Qualifications
Essential
- PhD degree or its equivalent in Social Sciences, preferably in Sociology
- At least 3 years’ experience as an analyst/consultant/project manager in social research in public health
- Sound skills of multivariate statistical data analysis
- Advanced skills in SPSS or R statistical software
- Experience of LGBT or trans topics research
- Effective communication skills in Russian and English
Desirable
- Experience in survey scales development
- Proficiency in other statistical software is an advantage
- Fluency in language(s) of CEECA countries (other than Russian)
This consultancy will be awarded to the her or him that offers a proposal that demonstrates the ability to implement web-based survey at a competitive rate and timeline
