ECOM — Eurasian Coalition on Health, Rights, Gender and Sexual Diversity, is an international membership-based association open to non-profit organizations and activists involved in the response to HIV epidemics among gay men and other men who have sex with men, and trans people in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Our mission is to support the development of national LGBT communities and their activism, promote human rights, and to protect the health and social well-being of gender- and sexually diverse people.
Responsibilities
The overall role of the Financial Coordinator is to support the functioning of the financial processes of ECOM.
Financial Management
- Ensure the organisation’s annual budgeting and planning process.
- Oversee financial management processes using financial management software.
- Oversee the provision of accounting services by an outsourcing company.
- Together with the accounting service provider, oversee the financial, project, and grants accounting.
- Prepare budget vs. actual analysis reports for the budget holders on a monthly basis, and organize monthly meetings with teams and the Executive Director regarding budget utilization.
- Prepare and analyse quarterly and annual financial statements, as well as cash books, lists of expenses, and bank account reconciliations.
- Process online banking statements and use them to compile financial reports.
- Verify internal payment orders and coordinate their processing with the accounting service provider.
Donor Grant Management
- Prepare the project budgets during proposal writing, and monitor progress and changes.
- Support subgrant-related financial processes in coordination with the Procurement and Contracts Coordinator.
- Ensure donor reporting and submit financial reports with the relevant supporting documents in accordance with the donors’ requirements.
Operational Management
- Lead the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
- Monitor and ensure the implementation of relevant internal policies and procedures (financial policies, tender procedures, and grant procedures) by the ECOM team, and suggest updates to financial policies and accounting practices as necessary.
- Support the ECOM team on financial requirements and procedures.
- Perform other relevant duties within the responsibilities of the position as required.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Management, Accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in finance and/or accounting
- Previous experience working in the NGO sector
- Proven experience in grant management and financial management of donor-funded projects
- Experience in preparing financial reports, internal reporting templates, and other operational documentation
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and financial monitoring
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
- Strong organizational, analytical, and reporting skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Fluency in Russian and English, both spoken and written
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism
Monthly salary (GROSS): range between EUR 2,000 and EUR 2,500
Workload: full-time
Location: anywhere, without relocation to Estonia
Starting: 1 July 2026.
The position is open until the end of 2026, with the possibility of extension. The role starts under the terms described above, and from 2027, the level of involvement may be adjusted depending on the needs of the organisation and fundraising results. A three-month probation period applies to the selected candidate.
