Aidsfonds, a long-standing partner of ECOM, announces the first Request for Proposals under the ActHIVate Fund — a new pooled funding mechanism designed to strengthen community-led HIV responses for and by trans people and men who have sex with men (MSM), in contexts where access to healthcare remains severely restricted.

The aim of ActHIVate is to support organisations that sustain HIV-related health services, advance strategic advocacy, and strengthen the integration of community-led approaches into existing health systems. The ActHIVate Fund recognises that service delivery is an important entry point for strategic advocacy and will support the interrelation of these areas of work.
Through this call, ActHIVate invites community-led, not-for-profit civil society organisations that are led by and primarily serve men who have sex with men (MSM) and trans communities. Organisations must have demonstrated experience in implementing HIV-related health programmes and advocacy activities in the following countries: Uganda, Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Moldova.
Aidsfonds is organising an online Q&A session on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, from 11:00 to 12:00 CEST.
The session will be held in English, with interpretation into Arabic and Russian.

The total amount of funding available under this call is €2,000,000. The proposed project must be implemented between 1 April 2027 and 31 December 2028.
Organisations may submit applications with a total budget of between €52,500 and €140,000 for the entire grant period from April 2027 to December 2028, i.e. 1 year and 9 months. This corresponds to a minimum annual application budget of €30,000 and a maximum of €80,000.
The requested annual application budget may not exceed the organisation’s average annual budget for 2024, 2025 and 2026.
If an organisation’s annual budget has never exceeded €30,000, it is not eligible to apply. However, the Fund recognises that funding cuts in recent years have had a significant impact on trans and MSM organisations, and that the average annual budget of some organisations for 2024–2026 may be below €30,000. In such cases, if the organisation’s annual budget exceeded €30,000 in any one of the years 2024, 2025 or 2026, it may submit an application with a budget of up to €30,000 per year.
