The Parliament of Kazakhstan is discussing bills on the protection of children from information harmful to their health and development. Among other things, these bills contain a ban on the distribution of information about non-traditional sexual orientations to minors.
EKOM believes that these laws are contrary to their goal of protecting children. Rather, they actually harm the mental health of gay and bisexual minors, lead to an increase in HIV prevalence among Kazakh citizens, serve as an impetus to the growth of discrimination and violence against lesbians, gays, and bisexuals, and lead to further violations of their rights.
