In response to Russia’s law banning homosexual propoganda, allegedly enacted in order to protect children, Yelena Klimova asked herself, who is there to protect LGBT children? She tried to find gay teenagers to speak with through social media, who in turn sent her hundreds of letters with stories one more painful to read than the next.
Klimova decided to publish a book that told the stories of these “invisible” people—LGBT children. Her book describes how Russian teenagers survive with their homosexuality. Klimova hopes that her book will show gay Russian teenagers that they are not alone.
