ECOM is looking for a consultant to conduct a scoping review of existing studies of chemsex in Eastern Europe and the Central Asia region
Introduction
ECOM — the Eurasian Coalition on Health, Rights, Gender and Sexual Diversity (ECOM) is an international association based in Tallinn, Estonia, uniting non-profit organisations and activists working in the field of HIV among gay men and other men who have sex with men and trans* people in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA).
Description of services
ECOM - the Eurasian Coalition on Health, Rights, Gender and Sexual Diversity is soliciting a consultant/consultant to conduct a review of the existing research on CSWs in the EECA region, prepare an analytical report and identify existing knowledge gaps on this topic in the region.
ECOM implements this activity in the framework of the project "Mitigating the impact of COVID-19 on HIV programmes". Several studies have shown that the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted the health and well-being of the LGBT community, particularly through an increase in substance use. Given the discriminatory nature of drug policies in many countries and the intersectional stigma facing people who practice chemsex, there is a need to improve and strengthen outreach and support services for people who practice chemsex.
As part of this activity, a two-part study will be conducted, part of which will be a review of existing studies on chemsex in the Eastern European and Central Asian region.
Tasks for the consultant:
- Define the criteria for the inclusion of studies in the analysis
- Review available sources and publications cited in MEDLINE/PubMed, SciVerse Scopus, CINAHL/EBSCO and Current Contents Connect/ISI Web of Knowledge and other relevant databases (including NGO and CBO reports)
- Identify the main focus and directions of research on the topic in the EECA region and identify research gaps. To make recommendations on the direction and conduct of further research in the region.
- To give a picture of the prevalence of chemsex in the population and health problems described in the research.
- To compile the material into a comprehensive report.
The consultant will work together with Nikolay Lunchenkov from ECOM Secretariat.
TIME FRAME
The work shall start on 4 August and be completed by 30 August 2022.
REMUNERATION AND COMPENSATION
A service contract will be signed between the consultant/s and ECOM whereby ECOM will not be responsible for paying any taxes by the consultant/s. All taxes and other levies required by the law of the consultant's country of residence shall be payable by the consultant.
PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE
The duration of work shall not exceed 10-15 working days.
CONSULTANT'S QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Practical experience in preparing a scoping review of existing studies
- Skill and experience in using the PRISMA tool
- Experience in working with LGBT and HIV service organisations in the EECA region
