General Description
ECOM is looking for an Advocacy Coordinator who will manage effective development and implementation of advocacy strategy of ECOM to achieve the organization’s mission.
Responsibilities
Advocacy
- Develop and implement advocacy strategy for improved HIV programming and financing for MSM and trans* populations in EECA;
- Develop and implement advocacy strategy to achieve and other sustainability of HIV services for MSM and trans* populations in EECA;
- Assist in developing plans and actions on increasing MSM and trans* community engagement in HIV governance at national level;
- Assist in developing national plans and actions for MSM and trans* community engagement to improve HIV programming planning, service delivery, financing, research and evaluations;
- Arrange assistance on quality of community leadership and participation, focusing on meaningful representation of community constituency and improved communication, advocacy and coalition-building skills;
- Prepare regional and national policy and situation analyses, ECOM’s position statements;
- Coordinate advocacy meetings, round tables with decision makers and/or stakeholders in public health and HIV programming;
- Coordinate ECOM’s advocacy coalitions, joint engagement and events;
- Support regional and global policy and advocacy initiatives to fight HIV among MSM and transgender people;
Communications
- In cooperation with ECOM’s Communications Officer:
- Engage with media;
- Prepare advocacy, promotion and other related materials;
- Develop and strengthen relations with ECOM’s members.
Other
- Prepare reports, analytical papers and briefing notes;
- Participate in preparation of donor reports;
- Use advocacy activities to strengthen strategic partnerships;
- Participate in the development and implementation of relevant research;
- Performs other relevant duties, as required.
Qualifications for the position:
- University degree;
- 5 years of experience in the field of designing or implementing programs on HIV;
- Demonstrated effectiveness in developing and implementing HIV advocacy plans and actions;
- Deep understanding of issues related to health and human rights of MSM and trans* people with a focus on Eastern Europe and Central Asia;
- Experience in media outreach;
- Conceptual knowledge of policies on HIV, STI, sexual health, human rights, and other relevant policies in EECA countries and in UN organizations.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
- Languages: Russian (proficient), English (very good);
- Strong communication and presentation skills;
- Strong writing skills.
