Finance Director
Description of Role
The overall role of the Finance Director is to manage finance, planning and budgeting, management and accounting, and to provide fair and timely financial reports.
Reporting and Communication
Finance Director reports directly to the Executive Director (ED).
Finance Director leads a Finances and Administration Team of 4:
- Chief accountant
- Grants Manager
- Grants Assistant
- Office Manager
Finance Director works in close cooperation with other staff.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate quarterly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials for all donor segments, and oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting.
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
- Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the ED; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
- Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
- Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/ reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
- Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.
- Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the board of directors.
- Participation in all strategy meetings and assessment of all planned activities on the reasonableness of expenses and effect of it on financial sustainability of the company.
- Identify and analyze the potential improvements in financial system and procedures.
- Overall management of the Finances and Administration Team, development and implementation of KPI strategy for each personnel.
- Communicate with donors’ community in order to attract funds for new initiatives and projects
Specific Tasks
- Prepare quarterly budget vs actual analysis report,
- Based on quarterly reports provide a cash forecast for each project and organization,
- Prepare donors reports,
- Develop and implement financial procedures and methodology in order to review and control sub-recipients’ and local partners finance activities to be sure in transparent proper use of funds received
- Train partners’ staff training on the detailed financial guidelines and requirements in order to implement activities and execute budgets accordingly.
- Overall relations with banks, including negotiations on better conditions,
- Supervise payments
- Ensure proper accounting of all project transactions
- Ensure proper preparation of Financial Statements, cash books, list of expenses, bank accounts reconciliations,
- To submit financial reports and send the relevant financial supporting documents in accordance with donor’s requirements
Qualifications for the position
- Minimum B.A. in Finance/Economics/Management/Accounting;
- At least 8 years of overall professional experience;
- Having a recognized accounting title is a plus;
- Proficient in English both oral and written, knowledge of Russian is a plus.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent knowledge of accounting principles;
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and accounting software,
- Good knowledge of Office Package
- Strong communication and presentation skills;
- Organizational and coordination skills;
- Multi-tasking, flexibility and ability to adjust to a fast-changing environment.
Salary
Monthly EUR 2,200 including personal income tax 20%
