Every year, on March 31, the world celebrates Trans Day of Visibility. This day is an important reminder of how important it is to see and hear the voices of the transgender community, to support their rights and fight against prejudice.
Visibility of trans people is not just an opportunity to share personal stories, but also a way to change society’s attitude towards gender and identity. That is why ECOM is actively working to create a space for the trans community of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, where everyone can openly talk about themselves and be heard.
One of ECOM’s most successful projects was the “We Are Alike” campaign. As part of this initiative, trans people from different countries of the EECA region shared their personal stories and answered “uncomfortable questions”. Thanks to this, millions of viewers on TikTok learned more about the lives and experiences of trans people.
For example, Tony talks about their experience of realizing their gender fluidity and how embracing their identity changed their life.
And Danil, a transgender man, shares his thoughts on his journey to self-acceptance and the challenges he faced.

Another significant ECOM project is the documentary “Transition”, which explores how the war in Ukraine has affected the lives of trans people throughout the EECA region. The film shows how important it is to talk about the experiences of the trans community even in the most difficult times. All episodes are available on our YouTube channel, and you can watch the first episode, dedicated to trans people from Ukraine, here.
Today, as the rights of trans people continue to come under attack — through limited access to medical services, bans on transgender transition and discriminatory legislative initiatives initiated, in particular, by Donald Trump’s administration in the United States — ECOM reaffirms its commitment to supporting the trans community, advocating for visibility and helping to create a world where everyone can feel free and safe.
